I fell off track all week long 🫣

Published 5 months ago • 2 min read

If you'd rather not read my chicken scratch, here's what I wrote in my journal this morning:

I haven't journaled since I got home [on Sunday] and that's okay. For the first few days after getting home, I was so sick that I felt like I was melting and like my eyelids had their own gravitational pull. I couldn't keep them open and I couldn't stay awake. For a few days, I somehow clocked over 20 hours of sleep. Like, damn. Honestly impressive in a weird way. But as some of my energy returns and I take time to look back on the week I've had, I choose to give myself grace and compassion and move on. I know now, after years of battling an all-or-nothing mindset an behaviors rooted in punishment and aggressive self criticism, that the [best] way forward is with self awareness, self respect, and LOVE.

Instead of resorting to blame, instead of wallowing in disappointment and negative and unproductive self talk (which may only trigger a binge or a mindset downward spiral) I choose instead, to tell myself:

  • It's OKAY - chill out.
  • I can choose to do and be better right now.
  • I am always a work in progress and I am always learning and growing.
  • I am the product of the thoughts I tell myself and the behaviors I repeat. I can make both positive, productive and forward thinking.
  • I am not defined by the times I mess up or fall off track. I am defined by my ability to keep going regardless.
  • I am committed to my long term growth, mindset and wellness.

your daily pick me up

Think about the last time you messed up or fell off track. It might have been last weekend, or it might have been this morning when you skipped your workout or your morning walk. In the same way I did above, write three affirmations or reminders that can help you move in a positive, productive manner.

No need to dwell on the past and let it hurt you anymore!

Repeat after me...

I am not defined by the times I mess up or fall off track. I am defined by my ability to keep going regardless.

Say this affirmation out loud in the mirror 10 times every day. Write it in your journal over and over. Visualize it before bed. Feel it. Believe it.

What I’m loving

Levels Grass Fed Whey Protein. This isn't sponsored (maybe someday!) but I ordered a 5lb container of chocolate on Cyber Monday and I've been really impressed. I just got back from 2.5 weeks in Australia where I drank it almost daily with just tap water and my shaker bottle, and it passed the taste test even then! And at about $1/serving, it's a really good price for the high quality and taste of the product. 10/10 recommend to help you reach your daily protein goal.

Remember, aim to get .7-1g of protein per pound of bodyweight to help fuel your metabolism, and build or maintain muscle. If you weigh 150lbs, your range would be 105-150g. One serving will get you 24g!

Happy Holidays, Reader. Enjoy this time of year, give grace and compassion to yourself and others, and spread some positivity and holiday cheer.

Sending so much love to you and yours,

💕 Morgan
