[FIRST NAME GOES HERE], you don't have to be perfect.

Hey Reader,

Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start.

I've been traveling for a few weeks, working remote and visiting friends all over the East Coast, and I've been reminded of how hard (yet how important) it is to maintain my habits and practices, and all the things that make me feel my best, in these situations.

For years I reallyyyyy struggled with keeping up my habits and making good choices when I was gone. But this time, I've taken a different approach – and it's made all the difference.

Instead of trying to be perfect or completely falling off the wagon (the all-or-nothing mindset and tendencies really trapped me there for a while), I focused on making small, consistent choices that align with my values.

I allowed myself to be fluid with my workouts, prioritized walking every day, got in workouts when I could (even if they didn't look the same as my workouts as home), minimized alcohol most of the time, made breakfast every day, and chose protein, veggies, and micronutrients when I ate out, to balance out some of the treats, too.

Yes, I still enjoyed the almond croissants and dinners and drinks with new and old friends – but I didn't overindulge or mindlessly snack throughout the day.

I made a constant effort to focus on balance and staying true to myself. But I gave myself grace and compassion, knowing I was going to be out of my routine for quite some time.

If you're struggling with this too, whether in your daily life or while traveling, I encourage you to take a step back and let go of your all-or-nothing thinking. You don't have to be perfect to make progress. In fact, I think you'll make even more progress when you embrace the natural ebb and flow of life and learn how to show up for yourself through it all.

Implement small, consistent actions that will help you build confidence and self trust, and stay aligned with the person you want to be. Do it for the long term. And always keep going.

Keep going, friend. I believe in you.
